2007 Kick Ranch Syrah

Aromatics – Initially this wine shows scents of blackberry and cherry, but with air reveals layers of spice, pepper and minerality. As it opens up in the glass it undergoes a wonderful transformation from pure fruit to that of a traditional syrah, showing the wines’ complexity and depth.

On The Palate – The Kick Vineyard always shows itself on the palate and the 2007 is a classic Kick Ranch. It has a beam of fruit that is very refreshing on the palate and will match up against hearty flavorful dishes. The fruits natural acidity gives the wine plenty of verve to offset the wines along hedonistic tannins.

Harvest Date - October 9th and October 11th

Clones - 470, Hermitage, and 877

Winemaking -The grapes were cold soaked for 5 days and then fermented in separate lots. The wine was moved to barrels when the fermentation reached 2º brix. The wine finished primary fermentation in the barrel.

Barrel Program -The Kick Ranch Syrah was aged for 16 months in French Oak. 
            40% New Remond
            40% One Year Old Remond
            20% Two Year Old Remond
