Like all great blends, hard to define, but a joy to drink. Walk through a dense forest after a refreshing rain and the essence of this wine is present. Earthiness, broodingly dark ripe fruit and baked strawberries with hints of soft leather fill the air. For all their lush richness, our GSMs greet you with a precise minerality - wet stones or a sandy beach. Medium acidity and silky tannins fill out the palate and introduce you to a lingering velvet raspberry finish. Here is a unique vertical of three distinct vintages of this blend from the same vineyard, and the same vines. 2010, 2013, 2014. A study in vintage and a joy to drink. 

Winemaking: We ferment the grenache, syrah, and mourvèdre separately, and age in barrel. The syrah always has some whole cluster. We then compose the blend from the best barrels. Doing the hard work in the vineyards allows us to take a more natural approach in the cellar. We are there to coax the grapes through fermentation. We use temperature, punch downs, gentle pump overs, and other hands-on techniques to help the grapes transform from delicious and sweet juice into wine that is vibrant, fresh, balanced and elegant. 

Vineyards: Set on the west facing foothills of the Mayacamas, at an elevation of 430 feet, the soils of Kick Ranch are a mix of Goulding clay loam, Pleasanton-Haire complex, with some volcanic. Over a hundred critically acclaimed wines have been made from Kick Ranch. These vines are framed by steep hills allowing the cooling night breezes to sweep coastal fog in on most nights that give away quickly each morning to brilliant sunshine.
